Stuart Altman is a veteran attorney who has been practicing law since 1996, proudly calling himself a “Court Attorney” for his deep-rooted experience in trial and appellate courts across the country. Licensed in New York, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C., he is admitted to practice before the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York (SDNY & EDNY), multiple federal appellate courts, and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Altman’s diverse legal practice spans immigration law, criminal defense, civil rights litigation, insurance defense, class actions, and appellate advocacy. He regularly appears in immigration court, representing families, students, and minors. He is a fierce advocate for immigrant rights, and has even petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a case aimed at expanding protections for immigrants in the United States.

In his civil rights work, Mr. Altman handles high-stakes litigation against government agencies and municipalities, often in cases that garner national attention and involve the U.S. Department of Justice. His passion for justice is reflected in his work defending clients whose rights have been violated by powerful institutions.

Mr. Altman earned his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1995 and has nearly 30 years of courtroom experience. He is also a frequent lecturer on immigration law and civil rights and is known for his commitment to serving New York’s diverse immigrant communities, particularly the Chinese-American population.

He has been recognized by Super Lawyers for legal excellence and client advocacy. His appellate work spans federal and state courts, and he continues to be a trusted legal voice in complex and sensitive matters affecting individuals and communities across the United States.
